This program of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in North America held at the Aviation Ballroom A of the International Conference Centre between April 17 and 18, 2009. The presenters were pastor James Fadele, Femi Olawale, Olayinka Dada and Deacon Daniel Monehin. The theme of the program was "Joy at Home."
Pastor Fadele's message was on wisdom, understanding and knowledge. The three concepts yield different results. knowledge is information acquired by reading, understanding is use of knowledge for a purpose and wisdom is the application of knowledge and understanding to life situations for successful outcomes. He commented on the need to communicate with our spouses. Women speak more words daily than men. our messages are 7% content, 38% tone and 55% non-verbal.
Deacon Monehin spoke on finances. The need to manage finances well will create a happy home. Do not rely on credit, save, tithe and be financially literate.
The breakout session focused on communication in the home under various situations. Care and balance were suggested for raising our children in North America. North America is not Nigeria. Your views as a parent is not necessary right all the time.
Sexual issues were raised during the discussion. Oral sex is not using the body as designed by God. Viagara was discussed - use only if recommended. Pornography not good - it makes one despise the physical woman.
Yemi Ladipo gave me a lift home the first night. I was late for breakfast the following morning. It was a nice gathering and time in God's presence.
