Weak Mindset

God gives oranges but expects us to produce the orange juice. It is the person who refines a product that will always be the head (master).Countries who grow the oranges pay more for the extracted orange juice e.g. Nigeria spent 1billion naira in 2007-2008 on importing orange juice according to the minister of agriculture.

Weak Mindset - takes NO for an answer when a YES is possible. Matthew 15 v28 gives the story of the woman whose daughter was vexed with the devil- her request was turned down but she persisted and later got what she wanted.

To succeed, I must be strong minded and decisive. I should not be scared of criticism or what people will say. My decisions should not be based on present circumstances or public opinions.

The consumer mentality believes that individuals are obligated to help them e.g. my uncle should help me and the church should do this for me. In trying to relate with people, consumer mentality people find people running from them as recorded in Proverbs 19 v6-7.

Rising above Average - Destroying negative Mentalities

Ecclesiastes 7 v19 - the way to the top is by getting wisdom so that one has strength.
Prophecy - Isaiah 45 v14.

People with victim mentality
1. believe in luck - do not recognize the need to prepare for success
2. believe that God is erratic Psalm 13 v3 - he does whatever he likes and is not consistent.

Consumer Mentality: People with this kind of mentality only want to receive but not give. they are ignorant of the laws of exchange. You need to add value before you are recognized or promoted. Such people base their life on what they have or do not have. They are happy to receive but find it difficult to give.

Mastering your life

This is a 40-page book by Mensa Otabil.

In the book, according to Proverbs 25 v2-4, he informs readers that not all things are known because God made it that way. It is our duty to search out what is hidden. When we uncover what is hidden we can rule in life and understand why things happened the way they happened. He encourages Christians to search for knowledge so as to uncover what is hidden.

Things that we do not understand, we mystify or build rituals around thereby limiting our imagination. We are to break such limiting thoughts by uncovering such hidden practices for motives and understanding. It is what we understand that we can practice and use to become great.

In my personal life I should ask and find out why i do certain things so as to gain understanding for excellence.

Dealing with Destructive Mindset

The mind is very important. If the mind is non-functional no appreciable growth or promotion can be achieved. Proverbs 23 v7 and Romans 12 v2.

As Christians our battles in life are fought in the mind (2 Cor 10 v3-5) and in the spirit.

There are 12 limiting mindsets. The first is Victim Mentality as experienced by the children of Israel in Numbers 14 v1-3. Symptoms include

- blaming others for our failures Proverbs 9 v12
- reacting fiercely when corrected
- focusing on the past and ignoring the future
- Proverbs 24 v14
- building on personality and not principles Matthew 7
- intimidated by people of other race Numbers 13
- fighting with their source of help
